Adeola Ariyo is a Nigerian international model, actress and beauty queen. She hails from Lagos, Nigeria but has a mixed heritage, born to a Ghanaian mother and a Nigerian father. Adeola Ariyo is the first African brand ambassador for Elizabeth Arden’s cosmetics. She was first discovered after participating in the continental model search Face of Africa in 2005, where she was a top five finalist. Adeola’s modeling career began at the age of 13 in London. She has since walked the runway at London Fashion Week, Arise Fashion Week in Lagos, Johannesburg Fashion Week and Cape Town Fashion Week.
9. Olajumoke Orisaguna
Olajumoke Orisaguna is a Nigerian international model, actress and beauty queen who received public attention when, while hawking bread on the streets of Lagos, she unknowingly walked into a photo shoot session of British rapper, Tinie Tempah, by Nigerian celebrity photographer, TY Bello, for Nigeria’s This Day magazine. Olajumoke Orisaguna was born in 1989 and currently 30 years old. TY Bello, while making edits, found an image of Olajumoke and Tinie Tempah amongst the photos. TY Bello searched for Olajumoke and photographed her. She appeared on the cover of This Day magazine before she was employed as a model. She later got jobs in some major presenting shows and make up schools. The story was reported in various media sources, including CNN and BBC Africa. Olajumoke Orisaguna was born and bred in Ire, Osun State in the south western part of Nigeria.

Agbani Darego is a Nigerian international model, beauty queen and a former Miss World. She is best known as the first native African to win the prestigious “Miss World” beauty pageant held in China. She was born on 22nd December 1982 in Lagos, Nigeria to a family of eight children. She is currently 36 years old. At the age of 2 years old, she relocated to Port Harcourt in River State, Nigeria and was raised in D-line. She is a native of Abonnema, a small village in River State, Nigeria but was born and bred in Lagos, Nigeria. Agbani Darego attended Bereton Nursery and primary school. At the age of 10 years old, she was sent to a boarding school in a bid to shield her from her mother who had become very ill with breast cancer. Agbani Darego’s mother died two years later when she was just 12 years old and the loss of her mother prepared her for the future in the bit to fulfill her mother’s wish. She attended the elite Northfield Mount Hermon School for her high school education, after which she attend Brown University in the United States of America and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Africana Studies and International Relations. She was the runner-up in Cycle 3 of America’s Next Top Models. Yaya Dacosta eventually went to star in TV series including ABC daytime drama All My Children in 2008 and Ugly Betty in 2009. Oluchi Onweagba is a Nigerian international model, actress and beauty queen. She was born on 1st August 1980 in Lagos, Nigeria. She is currently 38 years old. Oluchi Onweagba grew up in the suburbs of Lagos, Nigeria with her two brothers and sisters. Her father is a civil servant father and her mother is a professional nurse. At the age of 17 years old, she was urged by a family friend to enter into the M-Net “Face of Africa” preliminary screening at the M-Net office in Victoria Island, Lagos. The agency groomed her to be one of Nigeria’s entrants for the 1998 competition now called the Nokia Face of Africa. This despite the fact that, while growing up, she had maintained a relative ignorance towards fashion and modeling. With the support of her family and friends, she decided to compete in the inaugural edition of the Face of Africa in 1998. This was the first-ever continent-wide model competition, organized by the South African channel M-Net in collaboration with Elite Model Management. Luckily for her, she won the competition.

She is currently 32 years old. She is the daughter of a former Central Bank of Nigeria director. She was born in Lagos, but spent her early years in Sierra Leone before returning to her native home Nigeria with her family. She attended Queen’s College Yaba, where she won several prizes for her art work. In 2008, Omawunmi Akinnifesi graduated from the University of Lagos with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and Regional Planning.
