Sola Sobowale (born December 26, 1965) is currently 58 years old. She was born in Ondo State, southwestern Nigeria, to Joseph and Esther Olagookun. Teaching was a family affair, as both her parents were educators: Joseph served as a retired principal, while Esther was a former headmistress.
Education
The actress grew up in Ondo State and completed her primary and secondary education there. She then enrolled at the University of Ibadan initially to study Music.
However, driven by her deep love for acting, she eventually switched focus to Theatre Arts and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in the field.
Career
Before rising to stardom, Sola Sobowale appeared in notable productions such as The Village Headmaster, Mirror in the Sun, and the Yoruba film Asewo To Re Mecca. She began her acting journey with roles in movies produced by the Awada Kerikeri Group, led by Adebayo Salami.
Throughout her career, Sobowale has been involved in scripting, co-scripting, directing, and producing several Nigerian films. She wrote, produced, and directed the 2010 Nigerian film Ohun Oko Somida, starring Adebayo Salami. She also featured prominently in Dangerous Twins (2004), a drama by Tade Ogidan, and Family on Fire, another of Ogidan’s productions.
Her standout role came in 2018’s King of Boys, where she portrayed Eniola Salami, a formidable businesswoman and politician known as “The King of Boys.” This Nigerian crime political thriller was written, co-produced, and directed by Kemi Adetiba, marking a significant collaboration following their work in Adetiba’s directorial debut, The Wedding Party (2016).
Sobowale reprised her iconic role in the sequel, The Return of the King, which premiered on Netflix as a 7-part limited series in August 2021.
In July 2022, Sola Sobowale announced on her Instagram page that she had secured her first role in a Bollywood film directed by filmmaker Hamisha Daryani Ahuja.

Sola Sobowale has addressed the rumor about her alleged arrest for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia. The actress shared that when she left Nigeria for the United Kingdom, there were many negative stories about her, including false reports that she had been killed in Saudi Arabia.
