Early Life

Sarah Michelle Gellar was (born April 14, 1977), in Long Island, New York, the United States, to father Arthur Gellar and mother Rosellen. Her father was a garment worker who died in 2001, while her mother, Rosellen (née Greenfield), used to work as a teacher at the nursery school. 

Sarah was just seven years old when her parents separated; since then, she has lived with her mother. After their divorce, Sarah and her mother relocated to Manhattan’s Upper East Side. According to reports, Sarah didn’t visit her father’s place until he died in 2001. 

She stayed with her mother and spent all her childhood and teenage years with her mom in Manhattan. Growing up, she developed an interest in various fields, including being a skater and having a black belt in taekwondo.

Due to that, Sarah could not attend her class; however, she studied for most of her senior year of high school via guided study. Around that time, Sarah had already started acting and was working on the television show All My Children.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was always passionate about starting her acting career; she even began her professional career in childhood. As a child, she was discovered by a casting agent at just 4. In 1983, Sarah got to show her acting abilities in the series An Invasion of Privacy, in which she was cast as Jennifer Bianchi.
