Neta-Lee Hershlag was (born June 9, 1981), raised in Jerusalem, Israel, by Jewish parents, and given the Hebrew name Neta-Lee. Portman’s father, Avner Hershlag, is a fertility specialist and gynecologist, while her mother, Shelley, works as her daughter Portman’s agent. Natalie is the only daughter of her parents; the family moved to Washington, DC, before finally relocating to Connecticut in 1988.

Education

The family finally settled on Long Island, where she completed her early studies and learned to speak Hebrew at a Jewish elementary school. After that, she enrolled at Solomon Schechter Day School, a Jewish elementary school in Nassau County, New York.
