Prince Jide Kosoko (born January 12, 1954). Jide Kosoko was born into the Kosoko royal family on Lagos Island, Lagos State, Nigeria. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in the entertainment industry, his passion for the arts was influenced by his parents.
His father, Prince Adeyinka Kosoko, was a well-known traditional musician, and his mother, Henrietta Kosoko, was a celebrated actress.

After finishing his primary and secondary education, Jide Kosoko studied Business Administration at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos. Despite his academic pursuits, his passion for the arts ultimately led him to leave school and fully commit to a career in acting.

Prince Jide Kosoko studied Business Administration at the Yaba College of Technology. His acting career began in 1964 as a child actor in the television production “Makanjuola.” Over the years, he has appeared in numerous Nollywood movies, performing in English and Yoruba.
Growing up in Ebute Metta, Jide Kosoko was inspired by Hubert Ogunde’s success in pursuing acting. His journey began when an acquaintance from the Ifelodun travelling theatre troupe invited him to audition for a role in “Makanjuola,” a telemovie. He accepted the invitation, auditioned, and landed the role of Alabi.
He continued acting with the Awada Kerikeri group, working alongside notable figures such as Sunday Omobolanle, Lanre Hassan, and Oga Bello. He made guest appearances on the TV show “New Masquerade.” In 1972, he established his theatre troupe.
Jide Kosoko has also made significant contributions as a writer and producer, creating his films and stage plays, including “Ogun Ahoyaya.” He gained prominence during the video film era, producing his film “Asiri n la” in 1992 and starring in notable films such as “Asewo to re Mecca” and Tunde Kelani’s “Ti Oluwa Ni’Le Part 2.”
