Early Life and Education
Aig-Imoukhuede was born on September 24, 1966, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Western Nigeria, where he grew up with his family.
His parents, Frank Aig-Imoukhuede and Historian Emily Aig-Imoukhuede (née Ihonde), were civil servants.
The popular entrepreneur and investor has three siblings; Erekpitan, Oluwakemi, and Aigbovbioise.
Aig-Imoukhuede is originally hails from Sabongida-Ora, Edo State, Southern Nigeria, but was raised in Lagos and attended Federal Government College Kaduna in Northern Nigeria.
He completed his primary education at St. Saviours School in Lagos and began studying law at the University of Benin at age 16. Aig-Imoukhuede earned his LLB degree in 1986 at the age of 19 and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1987.
Aig-Imoukhuede later obtained a Trium MBA from the London School of Economics, New York University, and HEC Paris. Additionally, he completed an Executive Management Programme at Harvard Business School in 2000.
Career
Aig-Imoukhuede begsn his legal career at Continental Merchant Bank during his NYSC year in 1988.
He later joined Guaranty Trust Bank Plc in December 1991, serving as an executive director until March 2002.
He spearheaded the acquisition of Access Bank in 2002 and served as its group managing director and CEO until December 2013. Aig-Imoukhuede retired as president of the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2017 but remains on the National Council as an ex-officio member.
Aig-Imoukhuede held positions as a non-executive director at Africa Finance Corporation and chairman of Associated Discount House Limited. Additionally, he served as a director of Petralon Energy and retired as chairman of Wapic Insurance Plc.
He was also board chairman and director of FMDQ OTC PLC until August 2014. He founded Coronation Capital Limited in 2015 and has overseen its growth and expansion. In October 2021, he collaborated with the Office of the Head of Nigerian Civil Service to digitize work processes and public service delivery.
