The siblings duo better known as ” The Cavemen.” are a Nigerian Highlife band consisting of two brothers Kingsley and Benjamin James Okorie who both play the instrument (bass guitar and drum). Early Life and Education
The Cavemen were born and grew up in Lagos State, Nigeria in the early 90s and are natives of Orlu, Imo State and started out as choristers.
They both developed great passion for great music at an early age with Benjamin developing an interest in drumming while Kingsley learnt how to play the bass guitar.
They both attained their primary and secondary school education in their native town and then Kingsley graduated from Babcock University and Nigerian Law School’s Kano branch with a law degree.Benjamin, on the other hand, went to the Peter King College of Music in Badagry, Lagos.
Career
The hit band was founded in March 2018. They got discovered by Lady Donli and went on to win the 2020 Headies Award for Best Alternative Album
The Cavemen had to style their band name with a dot to avoid lawsuits from a New Zealand artist with the trademarked name.
The duo released their debut single, ”Osondu” in 2020 and released their debut album called Roots in August 2020. The album was recorded in their living room and was fully produced by them.
They also produced 11 of the songs on Lady Donli’s “Enjoy Your Life” album. They performed at the finale show of the fifth season of Big Brother Naija. The duo’s have also featured Cobhams Asuquo, Made Kuti among others in other songs and in 2023 the duo featured on Davido’s Timeless Album.
