Early Life and Education
Jackie Chan was born in 1954 Hong Kong to his parents, Charles and Lee-Lee, who had escaped a big fight in China called the Civil War. Jackie’s dad even used to be a secret spy.
Before Jackie was even born, his dad (whose real name was Fang Daolong) had a super secret job as a spy. But things got scary when a different group took over, so he ran away to Hong Kong and changed his name. It took Jackie years to find out about this hidden past, and he even learned his real name could have been Fang Shilong.
Career
Jackie Chan’s acting career started way back when he was just five years old! He appeared in small roles in movies as a child actor, even doing some stunts by the time he was eight. Throughout his teenage years, he continued working in films, mostly with his friends from the Peking Opera School.
His big break came in the late 70s with films like “Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow” and “Drunken Master.” These movies combined action, comedy, and Jackie’s unique fighting style, and they were a hit with audiences! This launched him into stardom in Hong Kong and then across Asia.
