Career

He was chosen to represent Gauteng in the “CSA Provincial One-Day Competition” against Border in first-class cricket in December 2013. Owing to his outstanding first-class exploits, he was chosen to participate in the 2014 ‘ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.’ With 14 wickets from Rabada, South Africa won the 2014 “Under-19 Cricket World Cup.” His 3.10 average economy rate contributed to South Africa’s historic victory in the coveted competition. Because of his quickness and precision, he was labelled ‘the fastest and most feared bowler’ in the competition.

Rabada afterwards joined a professional cricket team known as “The Highveld Lions.” Later, he participated in the Sunfoil Series, a domestic first-class cricket league, as a member of the “Lions,” and he claimed seven wickets in two games. Following up his outstanding showing at the “Under-19 Cricket World Cup,” Kagiso Rabada made history in February 2015 when he took a career-high 14 wickets for the Lions against the “Hollywoodbets Dolphins.” 

The English first-class county team “Kent County Cricket Club” signed him the next year. He participated in two “County Championships” and six Twenty20 (T20) matches for Kent County Cricket Club when he was in England. Rabada was selected for INR 50 million by the Delhi Daredevils, an IPL side, in the February 2017 “PL Player Auction.”

The ‘Delhi Daredevils’ bought him again in January 2018, however an injury prevented him from playing. He signed on with the Jozi Stars, a South African franchise side, to participate in the first Mzansi Super League T20 cricket competition in October 2018. He participated in the 2019 IPL as a player for the Delhi Capitals.

On November 5, 2014, Kagiso Rabada played his first T20 international match against Australia. He played his first one-day international match against Bangladesh on July 10, 2015. He made his Test match debut against India on November 5, 2015. He was then chosen to play in the 2015–16 tour against England.

Rabada became the youngest bowler from South Africa to take ten wickets in a Test match when he took 13 wickets in the fourth test against England. In their own country, his squad defeated England because to his performance.

Rabada was subsequently found guilty of using “inappropriate language during the game” and was suspended for the second Test match. Rabada became the world’s highest-ranked ODI bowler in the third ODI match of South Africa’s 2017 tour of England, where he claimed four wickets.

In 1998, he overtook Saqlain Mushtaq as the youngest player to be ranked #1 in the ‘ICC ODI bowling rankings.’ When he took five wickets in the first Test match of the 2018 series against India, he rose to the top of the world rankings for Test bowlers.

In the second test match of 2018, he claimed 11 wickets in opposition to the visiting Australians. After Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, and Shaun Pollock, he became the fourth South African bowler to reach 900 points in the ICC Test bowling rankings thanks to his performance.He made history as the youngest bowler to collect 150 wickets in a Test match in July of 2018.
