Gunna, a College Park, Georgia native, was raised in Fulton County’s Southside by his mother alongside four older brothers. He began his music career at fifteen and drew inspiration from artists like Cam’ron, Chingy, and Outkast. Gunna attended North Springs Charter School of Arts and Sciences, Langston Hughes High School, and Creekside High School with Playboi Carti. In 2013, he released the mixtape Hard Body as Yung Serg.Gunna’s entry into Young Thug’s circle was facilitated by Keith “King” Troup, a revered community member who passed away in December 2015. Career
Gunna’s debut mixtape, Drip Season, was released through YSL Records on October 14, 2016, showcasing fellow YSL members like Young Thug and Lil Duke. Following up with Drip Season 2 in May 2017, Gunna collaborated with prominent Atlanta and YSL artists including Young Thug, Playboi Carti, and Offset. His mixtape also scored a slot on a “Grand Theft Auto” radio station with the track “YSL”.
In November 2017, Gunna dropped his debut EP, Drip or Drown, produced entirely by his close friend Wheezy, with Young Thug as the sole feature.On February 2, 2018, Gunna dropped his commercial mixtape Drip Season 3 with guest features from notable artists like Lil Durk, Nav, and Lil Yachty.
