Tyler Joseph, born in Columbus, Ohio, grew up with two younger brothers, Zack and Jay Joseph, along with a sister named Madison Brett. His mother, Kelly Joseph, was a math teacher before becoming a high school basketball coach, while his father, Christopher Anthony Joseph, has Lebanese and American heritage and worked as a coach and former school principal. Joseph’s early years were spent homeschooled, where he developed a love for music through Christian rap rock group DC Talk and indie band The Killers. Using an old keyboard from his mom, he crafted tunes mimicking hits. Independently, he created “No Phun Intended” in 2007-2008 in his basement, incorporating Thomas’ guitar skills.
