Early Life And Education

Master KG, who spent his formative years in Calais Village, Limpopo, began his musical journey at a young age. At just thirteen years old, he delved into creating beats using a computer gifted to him by his deceased uncle.

Career

Master KG’s journey in the music industry began when he connected with DJ Maebela and together they ventured into music production using FL Studio software. In 2016, after honing his skills, he debuted with the single “Situation”.

Upon signing with Open Mic Productions, Master KG catapulted to fame with his hit single “Skeleton Move” featuring Zanda Zakuza. His debut album by the same name dropped on 21 September 2018, showcasing collaborations with various artists like Makhadzi and Team Mosha as he sang in his native Khelobedu language.

Master KG’s rise continued with the global sensation “Jerusalema” in December 2019, featuring Nomcebo Zikode. The track gained international acclaim, sparking a Burna Boy remix and winning him multiple awards including at the MTV Europe Music Awards and African Muzik Magazine Awards. Additionally, he secured a record deal with Elektra France, solidifying his status as a burgeoning star in the music scene.

In collaboration with David Guetta and Akon, Master KG dropped the single “Shine Your Light” on May 26, 2021. He then hit the road in September 2021 for the Jerusalem Live Concert Tour in the UK, accompanied by Zanda Zakuza.

On December 3, 2021, Master KG  released “Dali Nguwe,” a track featuring Nkosazana Daughter, Basetsana, and Obeey Amor, which quickly climbed to the top spot on the Local Radio Chart Top 100. 

Looking ahead, a joint album called “Makhelwane” with Nkosazana Daughter is in the works and scheduled to drop in July 2024.

Personal Life

In the past, Master KG and musician Makhadzi were romantically linked. At the start of 2022, they rekindled their relationship, marking the occasion with a Valentine’s Day celebration under the theme of Kulakwe. However, their romance later came to an end in 2023.
