Ifedayo Olarinde, also known by his popular moniker Daddy Freeze, was raised in a multicultural household, born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother. 

Growing up, he primarily resided in Ibadan, where he received his education at the International School Ibadan. Olarinde pursued further academic endeavors and obtained a degree in sociology from the esteemed University of Ibadan. 

Hailing from Oyan Town in Odo Otin, Osun State, his up bringing and diverse background have strongly influenced his perspectives and contributions to various societal discussions.

Career

Freeze’s career in broadcasting began in 1996 with BCOS in Ibadan before moving to Cool FM in 2001. He has since worked in radio presenting, television and event hosting, covering music concerts, comedy shows, and Nollywood premieres in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK. 

Freeze is the leader of the #FreeTheSheeple Movement and founded the Free Nation Online Church in 2017, where he conducts services and engages audiences with his criticisms of societal norms and religious practices.

Despite leaving Cool FM in 2020 after over 20 years, Freeze has remained active in media and public discourse. He briefly joined Nigeria Info before officially exiting radio broadcasting in 2022.

Daddy Freeze was formerly married to Opeyemi Olarinde, with whom he shares two children. The marriage ended in divorce, with Freeze claiming to have been a victim of domestic violence during the relationship. 

The divorce proceedings were contentious, with both parties accusing each other of adultery and domestic abuse. 

Despite the challenges and complexities of their separation, they were eventually able to complete the divorce process and move on with their lives.

At present, Daddy Freeze is in a marital union with Benedicta Elechi, a divorcee with five children. Among her kids are three from her previous marriage, her legally adopted niece following her sister’s demise, and a son she shares with Daddy Freeze.
