Early Life And Education

Meg Otanwa, a talented Nigerian actress, originates from the Idoma region of Benue State, Nigeria, but spent part of her childhood in Lagos. 

Raised in a multilingual household, she is proficient in English, Yoruba, French, Hausa, her native Idoma language, and even some Spanish. 

Otanwa earned her bachelor’s degree in English language from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria. 

Subsequently, she pursued a master’s degree in Human Resources Management at TIME University in Tunis, Tunisia, followed by an Master of Business Administration from Jean Moulin University in Lyon, France.

Career

Having worked for a long period at the African Development Bank in Tunis, Tunisia, Otanwa resigned and pursued a career in acting, making her Nollywood debut in 2011 in the dance drama film “I’ll Take My Chance” by Emem Isong.

In 2014, she starred in Kunle Afolayan’s film “October 1”, Bodunrin Sasore’s drama series “Before 30” as “Aisha”, and Charles Novia’s film “Atlanta”.

She was featured in Africa Magic’s debut telenovela “Hush” in 2016, playing the role of “Koko Ogunbiade” alongside Richard Mofe Damijo, Thelma Okoduwa, and Rotimi Adelegan,

Otanwa was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama at the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards and won the AMVCA recognition award for MNET original series for her role in the thriller telenovela “Hush”. She also graced the red carpet of the 2018 event.

In the 2018 film “The Eve” by Tosin Igho, she starred as “Alero” alongside actors like Beverly Naya, Hauwa Allhabura, and John Okafor.

In the 2020 film “For Maria Ebun Pataki” directed by Damilola Orimogunje, she played the role of “Derin”.

She portrayed “Angela” in Dimeji Ajibola’s sci-fi thriller “Ratnik”, released on 1 December 2020, featuring actors like Osas Ighodaro, Tope Tedela, Karibi Fubara, and Paul Utomi.
