Early Life And Education

Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Wright left high school at 16 to pursue his music career. Influenced by artists like Meek Mill, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, and Lil Wayne, he formed a close friendship with rapper Lil Bibby. Together, they collaborated early in their careers. Wright is associated with the group N.L.M.B., initially formed from the merger of No Limit and the Muskegon Boyz. N.L.M.B. stands for “Never Leave My Brothers,” signifying a brotherhood rather than a gang.

Career

G Herbo and Lil Bibby gained fame with their hit song “Kill Shit,” viewed over 50 million times on YouTube. They caught the attention of rapper Drake, who called them “the future” in the hip-hop community.

Herbo’s debut mixtape, Welcome to Fazoland, released on February 17, 2014, pays tribute to a friend killed in Chicago gun violence. Welcome to Fazoland was well-received by critics, with Fader praising Herbo’s unique lyrical style. He collaborated with Nicki Minaj on “Chiraq” in April 2014 and worked with Common on “The Neighborhood.” Selected for XXL’s 2014 Freshman Class issue, Herbo also recorded “Fight or Flight (Remix)” with Chance the Rapper and Common.

Before releasing Humble Beast in September 2017, he put out Welcome To Fazoland 1.5 and three singles. A deluxe version of the album followed in 2018.

In 2018, G Herbo’s freestyle on K104 radio led to the release of the “Who Run It” remix with Lil Uzi Vert and the single “Shook.” He later dropped the deluxe edition of his album Humble Beast and released the album Swervo featuring collaborations with artists like 21 Savage and Chief Keef. The following year, he released the album Still Swervin and in 2020, dropped PTSD which reached number 7 on the Billboard 200.
