Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, professionally known as MzVee, was brought into the world in South La Estates, Accra, to Ernest Hamenoo-Kpeda, a businessman, and Florence Hamenoo-Kpeda, a caterer. 

Her roots trace back to Keta in the Volta Region of Ghana. Growing up, she shared her childhood with two older sisters and a brother. 

MzVee kick-started her education at St Martin de Porres School in Dansoman, Accra, before moving on to St. Mary’s Girls’ Senior High School, where she delved into Home Economics. 

She initially pursued Business Administration at Ghana Telecom University before deciding to leave her studies behind in 2016.

Career

MzVee made her entrance into the Ghanaian music world in 2012 as the frontwoman of D3, a girl band under Lynx Entertainment. D3’s hits like “Good Girls Gone Bad” and “Gyani Gyani” were well-received until the group disbanded in 2013 to prioritize their education.

From 2014 to 2016, MzVee embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut single “Borkor Borkor” in January 2014. Subsequent hits like “Natural Girl” propelled her to win the ‘Unsung Artiste Award’ at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards.
