Early Life And Education

Quavo, born Quavious Keyate Marshall on April 2, 1991, in Athens, Georgia, faced early life challenges after his father’s passing at age five.

He grew up in Gwinnett County with his older sister and later attended Berkmar High School, where he showcased his athletic skills as the football team’s quarterback. Despite his academic and athletic promise, Quavo dropped out of school before graduation to focus on his music career, eventually forming Migos with his friends.

Career

Migos was founded in 2008 by Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset, with Quavo and Takeoff sharing a familial bond, having been raised together by Quavo’s mother. Initially known as Polo Club, the group later adopted the name Migos and released their debut mixtape, Juug Season, in 2011, followed by No Label in 2012.

Their big break came in 2013 with the hit single “Versace,” which was remixed by Drake and paved the way for Quavo’s solo success with “Champions.” Following the chart-topping success of Migos’ second album, Culture, Quavo collaborated with various artists on hits like “Congratulations” and “I’m the One.”

He also teamed up with Travis Scott for a joint album, releasing singles like “Go Off” and “Ice Tray.” In 2017, Quavo and Travis Scott surprised fans with their collaborative album, Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho, which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and produced seven charting tracks.

After Migos’ Culture II, Quavo released his solo album Quavo Huncho in 2018, featuring “Workin Me,” his highest-charting solo single. He collaborated with Madonna at Eurovision 2019 and with Justin Bieber on “Intentions” in 2020.

Migos released Culture III in 2021, but the group’s future was uncertain after Quavo and Takeoff formed the duo Unc & Phew, releasing Only Built for Infinity Links in 2022. Tragedy struck when Takeoff was killed in November 2022. Quavo honored him with singles and his second studio album, Rocket Power, in 2023. He was involved in a public feud with Chris Brown in 2024, exchanging diss tracks. Quavo also collaborated with Lana Del Rey on “Tough” in July 2024.
