Bishop David Abioye was born in 1961 in Kwara State, Nigeria. He grew up with a strong Christian foundation but initially aspired to become an automobile engineer, studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ilorin.

After graduating, he briefly worked as a lecturer at Open Cast Polytechnic, Auchi, from 1985 to 198614. In 1981, Bishop David Abioye embarked on his ministry journey by joining the Living Faith Church, established by Bishop David Oyedepo.

Initially pursuing a career in engineering, he discovered his calling to ministry after encountering Oyedepo, leading him to shift his focus away from engineering. He played a pivotal role in the church’s rapid growth, overseeing various branches and serving as the Senior Pastor of Goshen City.

After a long and dedicated service to Living Faith Church, Bishop Abioye officially retired from the ministry on October 18, 2024.

His retirement was in accordance with the church’s revised policy setting the retirement age for leaders at 58, except for the founder, Bishop David Oyedepo, who can serve indefinitely.

During his farewell service, Abioye expressed his gratitude to Oyedepo for the opportunity to serve and affirmed his continued dedication to the church’s mission, pledging to remain an active part of the Winners Chapel community.
