Reekado Banks, born into a family passionate about music, grew up under the guidance of his pastor parents. 

He began recording music at a young age, with his brother teaching him the basics of singing, writing, and producing. His stage name, combining the meanings of “strong ruler” and “wealth,” reflects his aspirations. 

In 2014, he graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in history and strategic study, citing artists like Don Jazzy and 2face Idibia as his musical influences.

Reekado Banks’ ascent to Mavin Records traces back to his brother, who submitted his music for an online talent search without his initial knowledge. From over 5000 entries, Banks’ songs stood out and secured him a deal with the prominent label.

On the day he officially joined Mavin Records in 2014, Reekado Banks unveiled the single “Turn It Up,” featuring Tiwa Savage, as his label debut.
