Early Life

Adunni Ade (born June 7, 1976, 48 years old) was raised in Queens, New York, by her German-Irish mother and Yoruba-Nigerian father. As a Nollywood actress, filmmaker, and fashion enthusiast, she has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry.

When Adunni was just a year and a half old, she and her parents returned to Nigeria to attend her grandfather’s funeral. She grew up in Lagos State with her father until her late teens before returning to the United States for university studies.

Education

Adunni Ade began her education at Chrisland Primary School in Opebi, Lagos State, earning her First School Leaving Certificate. She then completed her Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) at Bells Comprehensive Secondary School in Ota, Ogun State.

For higher education, Adunni studied accounting at the University of Kentucky, inspired by her father, a successful businessman based in Lagos, who encouraged her to pursue this field.

Career

Before transitioning into the entertainment industry, Adunni Ade worked in the housing and insurance sectors in the United States. She initially ventured into fashion modelling and even appeared on America’s Next Top Model. After relocating back to Nigeria, she made her Nollywood debut in the Yoruba film “You or I” in 2013.

In 2014, Adunni gained significant attention with her comedy skit “Date Gone Bad,” which amassed over 170,000 views on YouTube.

Adunni has since appeared in over 250 Nollywood films in both English and Yoruba. In 2021, she expanded her career into film production with her company, Lou-Ellen Clara Company Limited.

In an interview, Adunni Ade, who has a Nigerian father and an American mother, opened up about her decision to live with her children’s father without getting married and her current status as a single mother.

Adunni Ade said: “I have said this, it’s not something I want to hide, it’s a part of ,me and I don’t think there’s any need to lie, or make myself look good or whatever, but I have never been married. I was with my ex, Michael Boyd, who is my children’s fat,her for eight years, and things did not work ,out and I just let it, go and that has been three years ago.”

“He Ramsey Nough was the one who confirmed my move to Nigeria. I met him before I came to Nigeria and I told him what my goals and aspirations were. And he gave me a very good pep talk and I moved down.

“Imagine from 2011 never getting to work with him. And this is someone you’ve always admired,. Then during a film festival, I s,aw him and I went to exchange pleasantries as usual.”
