Amanda Benedicta Antony, a proud Xhosa woman, was born on July 24, 1993, in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Her early years were spent in Butterworth and East London before she later settled in Port Elizabeth. 

Amanda completed her high school education at Kabega Christian School in Port Elizabeth and went on to pursue Music Education at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

Career

Her musical journey began with singing in church and school as a child, but it wasn’t until the age of 12 that she ventured into talent competitions, where she honed her skills and gained valuable experience performing on stage.

After participating in multiple seasons of Idols South Africa, Amanda Black captured the hearts of fans during Season 11, reaching the top 7. Eager to pursue her music career, she made the move to Johannesburg in January 2016, where she was discovered by Ambitiouz Entertainment and offered a recording contract.

Her debut single “Amazulu” was released on July 1, 2016, and quickly gained popularity with over 4 million views on YouTube.
