He was the frontman of Tumi and the Volume until the group disbanded in 2012. In 2016, Tumi rebranded himself as Stogie T and dropped a self-titled album. The album included collaborations with artists such as Da L.E.S, Lastee, Emtee, Nasty C, Nadia Nakai, and Yanga. Two singles were released from the album, with the first one “Diamond Walk” featuring Nadia Nakai in the music video. The second single, “By Any Means”, included contributions from Emtee and Yanga.

Early Life And Education
Boitumelo Molekane, a renowned South African artist, was born on August 16, 1981 in Tanzania during a tumultuous time of apartheid in his parents’ home country. His parents, Mandla Msibi and Ellen Molekane, were exiled political activists. Tragically, Tumi’s father, an underground soldier for uMkhonto we Sizwe, was assassinated when Tumi was just a year old. Moving throughout Africa in search of a home, Tumi and his mother eventually settled in Soweto. These early experiences greatly influenced his music and personal identity, as he often felt like an outsider.
Career
Back in 2005, Stogie T teamed up with Cincinnati rapper Main Flow to create “Trade Winds”. The following year, in 2006, Tumi released his debut album “Music from My Good Eye”, which was praised as one of South Africa’s best albums. Throughout the years, he has collaborated with artists from all over the world, while also using his music to address social and political matters in South Africa and beyond.
In 2022, he showcased his talent at the World Intellectual Property Day event held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Stogie T has an extensive discography, with various projects including singles and albums. His latest release is the “Shallow” EP, which he dropped on May 24, 2024.
