Sean Kingston, born Kisean Anderson, spent his early childhood in Miami, Florida, before moving to Kingston, Jamaica, at age six, where his family has roots. He spent three years at Ocho Rios High School before returning to the US. Notably, his grandfather, Lawrence “Jack Ruby” Lindo, was a renowned reggae producer in Jamaica, influencing Kingston’s future music career.

Sean Kingston’s rise to fame began when he was discovered on YouTube by Matt Tobin, leading to a record deal with Beluga Heights Records and Sony. His debut single “Beautiful Girls” (2007) achieved immense success, topping the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching number one in several countries, including Australia, Canada, and the UK, where it stayed at the top of the charts for four weeks. Kingston’s subsequent touring schedule included opening for prominent artists like Gwen Stefani, Beyoncé, and Kelly Clarkson, further solidifying his position in the music industry.

Personal Life

Sean Kingston was in a near-fatal jet skiing accident in Miami in 2011 and paid a $180 fine. He resumed jet skiing by 2018. In May 2024, Kingston’s Florida mansion was raided, and his mother was arrested on fraud and theft charges. Kingston was later arrested in California and booked into jail in San Bernardino County.
