Early Life And Education

Jahron Anthony Brathwaite, aka PartyNextDoor, was born in Mississauga, Ontario, to a Jamaican mother and Trinidadian father. His early musical influences came from his father’s playlist, which featured R&B groups like Jodeci, Boyz II Men, and Blackstreet, shaping his future sound.

Career

PartyNextDoor (Jahron Brathwaite) signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell at 18 and released his debut mixtape in 2013, which charted on Billboard. He went on to release his debut studio album PartyNextDoor Two in 2014, followed by EPs PNDColours and Colours 2. 

He produced songs for Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and earned his first number-one song as a songwriter with Rihanna’s “Work” in 2016. He released PartyNextDoor 3 in 2016, featuring singles “Come and See Me” and “Not Nice”. He also collaborated with Jeremih on a joint album and singles like “Like That”.

PartyNextDoor surprised fans with a string of unexpected releases, starting with Colours 2 in 2017, a short film featuring all four tracks. He followed up with the Seven Days EP, featuring Halsey and Rick Ross, and then took a hiatus before returning in 2019 with singles “The News” and “Loyal”, leading up to his album Partymobile in 2020.

The next year, he dropped the Partypack EP, featuring previously unreleased songs, and re-released his 2014 EP Colours on streaming services with extra tracks. In 2023, he released the standalone single “Resentment”, and finally, in 2024, he released the long-awaited album “PartyNextDoor 4”.

PartyNextDoor was romantically linked to Kylie Jenner in 2016, with the two spotted together on several occasions. However, neither confirmed the relationship.

He was also rumored to be dating Kehlani in 2015, but their relationship reportedly ended due to infidelity issues. Kehlani later referenced the breakup in her music, hinting at PartyNextDoor’s alleged cheating. Despite this, the two have seemingly moved on, with PartyNextDoor even collaborating with Kehlani on music in 2020.
